Position Summary:

The Demand Planner is a member of the planning team and assists with forecasting activities associated with key accounts and products in the U.S. and abroad. As a member of the global planning team, this role assists with developing, coordinating, and aligning forecasts for assigned global businesses and channels. The Demand Planner also assists with ensuring that sales forecasts are visible, planned and supported through the supply chain, delivering customer satisfaction and improving inventory and working capital year over year. This position will interface with product development, sales, marketing, finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources from all Global regions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Forecasting and Planning
Develops demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function. Coordinates and communicates purchase action plans with buying offices.
Research and Analysis
Reviews and analyzes historical sales trends, researches demand drivers, prepares forecast data, develops statistical forecast models, and evaluates forecast results. Coordinates cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refines the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
Inventory Strategies
Develops inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
Interdepartmental communication
Interacts with all departments to understand demand forecast drivers. Utilizes a collaborative and consensus approach to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
Assist Other Departments
Assists other departments as needed and completes other duties as may be assigned to contribute to the efforts of the team.
Maintains confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters and uses good judgment regarding disclosure to appropriate parties.

Skills and Abilities:

Computer Skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft products, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel. Strong database knowledge is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Access is preferred.
Demand Planning Software
In-depth working knowledge of Demand Planning software for use as the primary forecasting system tool.
Forecasting and Statistics Knowledge
Strong proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods, with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities necessary to achieve desired results and considers additional ways to help the company beyond assigned tasks.
Adapts to changes in the work environment. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Able to handle change, delays, and unexpected events. Shows initiative, good judgment and adaptability for quick and/or frequent changes within daily tasks to be executed.

Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to collect and research data, and effectively analyze data to make decisions, while also retaining the ability to be a creative thinker.

Required Education / Experience / Specific Job-related Skills

Years of Experience:

0-2 years of experience in the industry is preferred. Education may count in place of required experience level.


BA/BS college degree or its equivalent. Experience may count in place of required education level.


No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking, and occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds.
