Position Summary:

The Director of European Sales is a key position for North America and is based at our Twinsburg headquarters in the United States. This role will oversee the sales and customer service teams in Europe to achieve company objectives. This role provides strategic direction through marketing leadership, branding and overall contributions to the business plan regarding marketing strategies, vision and goals. Key objectives include: (1) driving the European sales team to achieve growth expectations; (2) serve as the primary point of contact in the U.S. for the European sales team. In order to effectively perform the position responsibilities, the Director of European Sales will be expected to travel to Denmark and Germany regularly, and will also be expected to attend trade shows and other events that the company participates in throughout Europe. German language proficiency and knowledge of German laws and customs would be helpful but not required for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Plan Contributions
Responsible for driving achievement of the overall sales plan. Achieves targeted objectives for revenue and profitability consistent with annual business plan.

Evaluating Metrics
Evaluates segment-share and channel-mix metrics and establishes metrics for category, consumer, product, and packaging/merchandising.

Evaluating Proposals
Evaluates proposals on parameters of quality, pricing, MOQ, deliveries, and credentials.

Uses forecasting models to determine annual sales volume by category and region, and translates into purchase orders on manufacturer/s.

Forecasting Matrix
Prepares forecasting matrix for Head of Operations to ensure timely procurement.

Logistics Tracking
Tracks shipments and documentation with Logistics team to ensure adequate and compliant warehousing.

Budgeting and Cost Awareness
Creates and adheres to realistic budgets in a manner that helps achieve the organization's objectives. Tracks expenses against the budget frequently enough to make adjustments at the optimum time. Cost-conscious and tends to stay within budget.

Process Improvement
Evaluates current processes for continuous improvement opportunities and works with relevant departments to implement process improvements.

Ability to effectively coach and train sales channels to maximize sales.

Credit Terms
Monitors accounts receivables in various regions to comply with credit terms.

Customer Delivery Oversight
Works with Customer Service department to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner to accounts. Works with planning to ensure product is ordered timely. Works with PD and China office to ensure projects are moving forward.

Customer Growth
Develops a strong comprehension of how to assist our retailers in growth profitability while also advancing Wild Republic's reputation, positioning and growth.

Customer Relationships
Leads in planning and implementing sales to customers and fosters account relationships. Ensures overall customer satisfaction. Travels as needed to customers and showrooms to work with customers.

Assist Other Departments
Assists other departments as needed and completes other duties as may be assigned to contribute to the efforts of the team.

Interdepartmental Communication
Partners with cross-functional departments and teams to ensure customer needs are met, issues are resolved promptly, and to contribute to overall success for the business.

Product Knowledge
Develops strong knowledge of current products and keeps knowledge up-to-date.

Presentation Skills
Experience presenting in front of internal and external customers from a variety of levels within an organization. Ability to speak in front of large groups and explain new products and features, as well as engage audiences from a consulting perspective to understand their goals and requirements.

Product Promotions
Collaborates with product development, sales and marketing teams to develop sales promotions and exclusive products for particular territory/channel/customer.

Oversees direct reports to ensure performance objectives are met and department efficiency expectations are attained. Meets with direct report(s) to provide regular feedback on performance, changes to procedures, address and resolve issues, etc. Provides coaching and counseling to employees as needed. Ensures employees are following company policies and safety rules.

Required Education / Experience / Specific Job-related Skills

Years of Experience:

10-15 years of relevant experience at the director level or above. Education may count in place of required experience level.


A bachelor's degree in business or a related field or its equivalent. A master's degree in business or related field is preferred. Experience may count in place of required education level.


Proficiency in the German language is preferred. Familiarity with the laws, and customs of Germany and/or Europe in general. This position will directly supervise the sales managers and the customer service team in Europe.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires occasional sitting, occasional standing and walking, and occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds. Travel will be required to meet business needs.
