Position Summary:

The Key Account Manager is responsible for developing and expanding business within designated categories/channels. The Key Account Manager contributes to the business plan by providing input on relevant market information, product development, sales and marketing strategies, vision and goals. The Key Account Manager personally contacts and manages accounts at the buyer level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consultative sales
    Maintains a clear understanding of consultative sales, exploratory information-gathering techniques, conducting gap analysis and client project consultations. 
    Customer Service
    Ensures overall client satisfaction by maintaining active knowledge of customer needs and communicating those needs to the appropriate departments. 
    Interdepartmental Communication
    Partners with cross-functional departments and teams to ensure customer needs are met, issues are resolved promptly, and to contribute to overall success for the business.
    Account Management
    Manages sales accounts in a manner that ensures that customer needs are understood and met.
    Business Development
    Builds business by communicating with customers through phone calls, emails, and in-person sales calls.
    Customer Delivery Oversight
    Works with Customer Service department to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner to accounts.
    Customer Growth
    Develops a strong comprehension of how to assist our retailers in growth profitability while also advancing Wild Republic's reputation, positioning and growth.
    Customer Payment Oversight
    Works with the Credit Department to make sure that bills are paid in a timely manner.
    Customer Relationships
    Leads in planning and implementing sales to customers and fosters account relationships. Ensures overall customer satisfaction. Travels as needed to customers and showrooms to work with customers.
    Identify New Business
    Prospects and brings in new accounts.
    Product Development Insight
    Provides input to product development for new product needs of customers.
    Product Knowledge
    Thorough knowledge of our products and our capabilities for developing custom products. Uses product knowledge to optimize sales with each customer. Understands the product market and uses this knowledge to increase personal credibility and product sales.
    Sales Plan Contributions
    Responsible for driving achievement of the overall sales plan. Achieves targeted objectives for revenue and profitability consistent with annual business plan.
    Sells Toys, Plush, Jewelry & related products to assigned National and Mass channels (specialty toy, hobby, craft, gift, hospitals, museums, parks, zoos, garden centers, travel centers, grocery, drug store, big box, and/or mass, except those on the "do not call" list).
    Identifies and closes additional purchases of products by customers.
    Assist Other Departments
    Assists other departments as needed and completes other duties as may be assigned to contribute to the efforts of the team
    Budgeting and Cost Awareness
    Creates and adheres to realistic budgets in a manner that helps achieve the organization's objectives. Tracks expenses against the budget frequently enough to make adjustments at the optimum time. Cost-conscious and tends to stay within budget.

    Knowledge of current toy laws, safety testing and social audits.
    Willing and able to travel 50% for in-person sales appointments and attending various trade shows.

Required Education / Experience / Specific Job-related Skills

Years of Experience:

3 to 5 years of relevant sales experience. Education may count in place of required experience level.


BA/BS degree in business or its equivalent is preferred. Experience may count in place of required education level. A bachelors degree in a related field may count in place of business degree.



  •   Travel for this position is up to 50% of the time.
  •   Must maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel, and research matters.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent sitting, standing and walking, frequent lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The physical demands may require lifting up to 50 pounds frequently during trade shows. The position also requires manual dexterity and normal or corrected vision to operate a computer in the course of work.
