Position Summary:

The Sales Manager-Inside Sales is responsible for achieving monthly sales budget by selling to existing customers in assigned channels/territories and growing customer base by cold-calling and sending catalogs and samples. The Sales Manager-Inside Sales is also responsible for managing customer accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Account Management
Manages customer accounts by performing tasks such as order entry, back orders & credit memos. Manages sales accounts in a manner that ensures that customer needs are understood and met. Builds relationships with key decision makers while showing respect for each and every person in a customer organization. Expands sales within existing accounts and keeps track of account activities in order to respond to new developments and changes.
Consultative sales
Maintains a clear understanding of consultative sales, exploratory information-gathering techniques, conducting gap analysis and client project consultations.
Sells Toys, Plush, Jewelry & related products to assigned channels (grocery, drug store, big box, and/or mass).

Sales Plan Contributions
Responsible for driving achievement of the overall sales plan. Achieves targeted objectives for revenue and profitability consistent with annual business plan.
Customer Relationships
Leads in planning and implementing sales to customers and fosters account relationships. Ensures overall customer satisfaction. Travels as needed to customers and showrooms to work with customers.
Customer Service
Ensures overall client satisfaction by maintaining active knowledge of customer needs and communicating those needs to the appropriate departments.
Identify New Business
Prospects and brings in new accounts.
Identifies and closes additional purchases of products by customers.
Product Development Insight
Provides input to product development for new product needs of customers.
Product Promotions
Collaborates with product development, sales and marketing teams to develop sales promotions and exclusive products for particular territory/channel/customer.

Interdepartmental communication
Interacts with all departments to understand demand forecast drivers. Utilizes a collaborative and consensus approach to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
Assist Other Departments
Assists other departments as needed and completes other duties as may be assigned to contribute to the efforts of the team.
Product Knowledge
Develops strong knowledge of current products and keeps knowledge up-to-date.

Ability to provide effective consultation to customers in assigned channels/territories to drive sales. This includes product recommendations, retail pricing recommendations, and merchandising recommendations.
Consumer Goods Experience
Strong consumer goods experience.
Customer Knowledge
Maintains working knowledge of accounts that receive special pricing, ticketing, or other special requests.
Market Knowledge
Strong ability to understand our market and our customers' needs.
Presentation Skills
Experience presenting in front of internal and external customers from a variety of levels within an organization. Ability to speak in front of large groups and explain new products and features, as well as engage audiences from a consulting perspective to understand their goals and requirements.
Product Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of our products and our capabilities for developing custom products. Uses product knowledge to optimize sales with each customer. Understands the product market and uses this knowledge to increase personal credibility and product sales.
Persuasion Skills
Effective persuasion skills and solid communication skills with strong, goal-driven orientation.
Self Starter
Works well independently and with minimal supervision while demonstrating initiative.
Selling Skills
Demonstrates strong selling and negotiation skills, including the ability to identify potential new customers and attract new business, identify customer needs, translate features to benefits, deliver effective demos, negotiate, and close sales.
Toy Knowledge
Knowledge of current toy laws, safety testing and social audits.
Analytical Skills
Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to collect and research data, and effectively analyze data to make decisions, while also retaining the ability to be a creative thinker.
Attention to detail
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Regular, on-time attendance, including overtime as necessary.

Good follow up skills and persistence to ensure customer receives desired product in a timely manner.

Required Education / Experience / Specific Job-related Skills

Years of Experience:

1 to 2 years of selling experience, with experience in the toy industry preferred. Education may count in place of required experience level.


A degree in business or a related field or its equivalent. Experience may count in place of required education level.


No supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking, and occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds. Occasional travel may be required to meet customer needs.
