Position Summary:

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team.The Staff Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. This role is responsible for salary payroll, filing taxes as assigned, performing monthly allocations and accruals as needed, and preparing general ledger entries. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for assisting with audits and the annual inventory process, and serves as a backup for the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions when needed.

Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3 to 5 years of related experience. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, solid communication skills, intermediate computer skills including microsoft excel, a commitment to confidentiality and attention to details, and a positive, customer service-oriented attitude.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable Review
    Reviews the processing and recording of accounts payable invoices
  • Audits
    Assists with the annual audits: 401(k) and bank
  • Back up
    Serves as back up for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • File taxes
    Files Sales and Use taxes and annual CAT tax
  • Financial Statements
    Prepares financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system
  • General Accounts Analysis
    Performs general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets,
    inter-company reconciliation, royalties, accruals and prepaid expenses
  • General Ledger
    Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files
  • Inventory
    Assists with the annual inventory process
  • Monthly Allocations, Accruals
    Performs monthly allocations, accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation,
    and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary
  • Salary Payroll
    Prepares salary payroll, updates payroll records when needed, and HSA and 401(k) funding
  • Assist Other Departments
    Assists other departments as needed and completes other duties as may be assigned to contribute to
    the efforts of the team.

    Maintains confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters and uses good judgment
    regarding disclosure to appropriate parties.

    Partners with cross-functional departments and teams to ensure customer needs are met, issues are

    Proficient in financial software.

    Ability to conduct research and report research findings to manager so appropriate action may be
    taken.

Required Education / Experience / Specific Job-related Skills

3 to 5 years of related accounting experience.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequently sitting, occasionally standing and walking, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds. The position also requires manual dexterity and normal or corrected vision to operate a computer in the course of work.
