My dad is referred to as ‘dog‛ and my mom, as ‘vixen‛. My brothers and sisters are called cubs/pups/kits. We are the largest species of the Vulpes.
We have binocular vision, we have excellent hearing and can detect the squeaking of mice about a hundred meters away.
Our forepaws have five digits while our hindfeet have only four.
We are omnivores by nature, my family and I enjoy feeding on animals like small rodents, rabbits, squirrels, game birds‛ reptiles, domestic poultry, vegetables, and also fruits and berries in Autumn.
We hunt even if we are not hungry and store the extra food in ‘cache‛ sites. Territories and caches are marked with urine. We are possessive and will guard our prey and food even from enemies.

We have orange-red fur on our back, side and head and white fur under our neck and chest. We have long and bushy tails that are more than half the length of our bodies and the tip is fluffy and white. We have pointed black ears, legs and feet. Our average weight is 2.2 to 14 kgs or 4.8 to 30 pounds.
Our communication is mostly through sound and body movement. Our vocal range is wide and we can produce different sounds. They can be divided into contact calls and interaction calls. We use sound and body gestures to attract and catch prey and also to attract mates.
We have competitors and predators in wolves, coyotes, golden jackals, eagles and Eurasian eagle owls. We are hunted even now as pests and killed for our fur.
I would say that no matter how sly or invasive you think we are, our existence is needed for the survival of all species and we are proud of who we are.
